Jack Reacher is a drifter and ex-military policeman.
Each book in the series is a self-contained story, and the plot of each book relies very little on the prior books in the series.
Most of the novels are set in the United States, in locales ranging from major metropolitan areas like New York City and Los Angeles to small towns in the Midwestern and Southern United States. To date, Reacher’s travels outside the US have taken him to rural England (The Hard Way) and Paris, France, where Reacher visits his dying mother with his brother.
